Transition from School to Work

This powerpoint describes the King County, WA, School to Work program that transitions students with I/DD from high school to integrated employment.  The powerpoint includes a history of the employment movement in WA in the context of national policy development.  It provides a detailed accounting of the steps that were taken to build the King County program.  It reflectively identifies the essential steps in this process.  It provides information on program eligibility and the time line of provision of services to individuals.  It compares the state-administered to the county-administered program in which rather than contracting for services as on the state level, the county hires FTEs to provide services to participants.  It provides information on annual employment outcomes and a list of ten essential elements for attaining full employment of participants.
