Colorado’s Ad Hoc Committee on Employment and Community Participation

Describes 2004 collaborative initiative in Colorado to promote the integrated employment of people with disabilities.  Participants included representatives from the Colorado Division for Developmental Disabilities administration, the Colorado Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, nonprofit organizations responsible for authorizing services, advocacy groups, self-advocates, parents and service providers.   Actions featured collaborative development of clear vision and mission statements and consensus definitions providing benchmarks for measuring outcomes and guidance on key aspects of process.  The report details impacts and offers suggestions for replication in other jurisdictions.
